In old days, a golden bird flew into the Toyooka District, Imaichi when it was still a swamp. People fell into sleep in its beautiful songs every night. But ever since the swamp was filled and dried the bird was gone.

Some time after, the golden bird came back to the villagers for the first time in daytime with all the feathers coated in glowing gold. The bird waved goodbye to people and flew away to the faraway summit of Plateau Mountain. From then on, the crest of the mountain had always been seen shinning and glowing like gold. People later called it Golden Bird Mountain. It is said the name of Keichou Mountain was just from the homophonic of Golden Bird Mountain.
